The Reason for God
by Tim Keller
The Reason for God. Tim Keller's conversations on faith and life will give people an opportunity to listen to a group of people who express their doubts and objections to Christianity and hear how Tim Keller responds to them. If you have wondered what to say to an unbeliever, this is a good starting point to find relevant answers to their doubts, fears and objections to Christianity.
Beginning January 18 from 7:00-8:15pm
Francis Chan says, "I grew up believing in God without having a clue what He is like. I called myself a Christian, was pretty involved in church, and tried to stay away from all the things that good Christians avoid – drinking, drugs, sex, swearing. Christianity was simple: fight your desires in order to please God. Whenever I failed (which was often), I’d walk around feeling guilty and distant from God.”
As Christians, we should never feel comfortable in our walk with God. Francis Chan challenges us to get out of our comfort zones and dare to love God as much as He loves us. Chan says, “We have an inaccurate view of God. We see him as a benevolent Being who is satisfied when people manage to fit Him into their lives in some small way. We forget that God never had an identity crisis. He knows that He’s great and deserves to be the center of our lives. Jesus came humbly as a servant, but He never begs us to give Him some small part of ourselves.”
This is a DVD study with teaching and questions. Each study consists of a 10-minute video clip followed by some teaching. At times we may break into groups. This promises to challenge us in our faith, and to cause us to grow deeper in our faith in Christ.
